Where is IMEC?
Located in the heart of Mexico (45 minutes from Mexico City), Cuernavaca boasts a gorgeous semi-tropical climate, making it the ideal place to study Spanish. The city was once the personal kingdom of the Spanish conqueror of México, Hernan Cortés. His palace can still be seen today on the main square, the Palacio de Cortés, which is now a local museum featuring a famous mural by the well-known Diego Rivera. The historic zócalo, or city square, truly is the heart of the city, and the surrounding downtown area that includes the historic cathedral is great for walking, shopping, and restaurants and, in fine Mexican tradition, people watching. As Cuernavaca is the capital of the state of Morelos, the state government often sponsors concerts and other cultural activities that are free and open to the public in the zócalo. IMEC´s campus is only a short walk away from this hub of activity.
Our average daily temperature is about 75° F. Winter months (December through February) can be cooler, reaching the mid-40s in the evenings. One can also expect warmer temperatures, reaching the 90s, March through June. If you come in June or July, you’ll definitely want to bring an umbrella and a rain jacket, for this is our season of almost nightly rain.
